The documents below were developed to help describe/explain some of the strategies children will be exploring for computation (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) at each grade level.

The Chittenango Middle School Mathematics Curriculum is designed to help students develop understanding, reasoning, and ways of thinking about numbers, geometry, measurement, algebra, probability, and statistics. Middle school students have a perspective all their own. We try to tap into their world with experiences and information that will grab their attention.
Through the use of a variety of teaching strategies we adapt to each studentÂ’s unique learning need while also improving their performance. We are currently using two textbooks in the middle school, Scott Foresman-Addison Wesley Middle School Math and the Connected Mathematics Series.

Chittenango Middle School
The Chittenango High School Mathematics program provides courses that will enable students to understand and use basic mathematical ideas including number sense and numerical concepts, operations on numbers, measurement, geometry, algebra, trigonometry, probability and statistics and calculus. Students need to develop the ability to communicate and reason mathematically, apply problem-solving skills to real world problems and to have the knowledge, skills and understanding to meet the demands of an ever-changing world.
All courses are instructed using the New York State Mathematics Standards and the key areas of mathematical reasoning, number and numeration, operations, modeling/multiple representation, measurement, uncertainty and patterns/functions.
