Sullivan Food Cupboard's New Logo Sullivan Food Cupboard's New Logo: Last spring, students in Mrs. O'Rourke's computer graphics class competed to design a new logo for the Sullivan Food Cupboard, aiming to capture the essence of the organization in a simple, memorable, and eye-catching way. After planning, sketching, and refining their designs in Adobe Illustrator, the logos were submitted and reviewed. Two standout designs were chosen by the Sullivan Food Cupboard and its board members. Junior Tymia Arnold's design was awarded first place, while Senior Julian Cipolla's design took second. Tymia's logo will be featured on the organization's stationery, website, and building sign. Both students also received prizes from local businesses, thanks to our partnership with the Chittenango Teachers' Association!    
Chittenango High School Seniors Earn NYS Seal of Biliteracy Chittenango High School Seniors Earn NYS Seal of Biliteracy: Eight seniors from the Chittenango High School Class 2024 successfully presented their projects to earn the NYS Seal of Biliteracy.  The New York State Seal of Biliteracy (NYSSB) acknowledges the importance of being bilingual in today's global society.  It highlights the hard work and achievement of students who demonstrate a high level of literacy in more than one language.  The NYSSB encourages the study of languages, affirms the value of diversity in a multilingual society and gives students opportunities including a competitive advantage in the workforce and a better understanding of other cultures.   Students earn the Seal of Biliteracy by earning points in ELA and a world language.  Points can be earned in ...
STEM Enhancement Program STEM Enhancement Program: A huge congratulations to Jahanna Donegan-Wurz on being selected by NASA and the University of Texas Center for Space Research to participate in this year’s STEM Enhancement in Earth Science High School internship program. Jahanna is one of just twenty-five sophomore students from across the United States to be accepted into this prestigious program. She will work on a two-week research project this summer, supporting Microgravity and ZQube. Great Job!
CMS Leo's Cub teams up with Will's Angel's CMS Leo's Cub teams up with Will's Angel's: The Chittenango Middle School Leo's Club joined forces with Will's Angels to spread joy and comfort to the young patients at Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital. Inspired by the memory of fellow student Will Clark, who cherished his collection of quirky socks during his time at the hospital, the community rallied together to make a difference. The Leo's Club spearheaded the initiative by creating and setting up collection baskets across all Chittenango district schools and engaging nearby community partners. On May 1, 2024, Leo's members delivered 1,146 "silly socks" pairs to Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital. Outstanding job to all those who made this happen!

This recognition is awarded to school districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in providing music access and education to all students, as well as recognizing the level of community support. “Our District and community are very supportive of our music program,” says Matthew Stearns, K-12 Music Chairperson, “We are fortunate to offer four strands of music: Band, Choral, Orchestral, and General Music. We are equally fortunate to provide several performing opportunities for all grade levels. CMS Teams up with Madison County EMS CMS Teams up with Madison County EMS: The Leo's Club and Crossroads group at Chittenango Middle School teamed up to help Madison County EMS staff and accident victims. They worked together to make cozy blankets, which they donated on March 20th to EMS staff to give to people at accident scenes. These blankets aren't just warm; they're like hugs during tough times. The students' kindness and generosity show how small acts can make a big difference.  
CHS Presents Les Misérables CHS Presents Les Misérables: Set in 19th-century France,  Les Misérables  tells Victor Hugo's story of the failed but noble Paris uprising of 1832. We start with a prisoner named Jean Valjean (Aiden Grenier), who was sentenced to 19 years for stealing bread to save his family. Upon his parole, the stern but dutiful Inspector Javert (Logan Rogers) warns him to be mindful of the law. Still, when Valjean cannot find work as a parolee, he steals silver from the local Bishop of Digne (Elijah Hoover). Valjean is brought to justice, but in a twist of fate, the bishop tells the inspector that he gave him the silver and he may be released.  Valjean turns his life around, eventually becoming a factory owner and mayor of a nearby town. CMS Attends Micron’s Careers in a High Tech World Event CMS Attends Micron’s Careers in a High Tech World Event: Over February break, Chittenango Middle School 8th-grade students had the opportunity to participate in the Micron Careers in a High Tech World event hosted by OCM BOCES. During this event, they interacted with Micron engineers and OCC professors, gaining valuable insights into the ever-evolving technology field. One of the event's highlights was a captivating virtual reality tour of Micron's cleanroom facilities. Additionally, they actively participated in hands-on learning activities, further deepening their understanding of key concepts in technology and engineering. This immersive experience broadened their horizons and sparked their curiosity and passion for careers in the high-tech industry. CHS Musicians Selected for Conference All-State CHS Musicians Selected for Conference All-State: Three Chittenango High students were selected to attend this year’s NYSSMA Conference in Rochester, NY. After months of preparation on their NYSSMA solos, Nathan Cleveland, Sophia DiGennaro and Evelynn Keville received perfect scores and were selected to participate in the 2023 All-State Symphonic Band and Symphony Orchestra. This is the highest honor that a young musician can achieve. Only the finest high school musicians from all of New York State are selected. From Thursday, November 30th through Sunday, December 3rd, these students participated in what was, most likely, the most enriching musical experience of their lives. Over several days, their intensive rehearsals culminated in a performance at The Eastman Theater.

Congratulations to Hannah Eddy!: Hannah Eddy, daughter of Carrie and Timothy Eddy and a senior at Chittenango High School, earned the highest possible ACT composite score of 36. About one-quarter of 1% of students who take the ACT earn a top score. In the U.S. high school graduating class of 2022, only 3,376 out of 1.34 million students who took the ACT earned a top composite score of 36.   The ACT consists of tests in English, mathematics, reading, and science, each scored on a scale of 1–36. A student's composite score is the average of the four test scores. Chittenango's 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony Chittenango's 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony: On September 11, the choir was again honored to sing for the Village of Chittenango's 9/11 remembrance ceremony. The event was filled with strong emotions and beautiful music performed by the choir! 
The Chittenango High School Select Choir Hits the Ground Running! The Chittenango High School Select Choir Hits the Ground Running!: On September 2, 2023, the choir was honored to be a finalist to sing at the St. Joseph’s Amphitheater ahead of the Loverboy and Foreigner concert. The group sang a medley of classic rock songs to an audience of about 17,000. Their energy and enthusiasm helped them WIN the competition against the students from Central Square, who also put on a great show! The students had a blast singing in this space and were rewarded with a new Bose PA System! 
Students Honored with Students Honored with "Tools for Success" Awards: To qualify for a "Tools for Success" award, students must demonstrate proficient skills within their program, have good classroom attendance and participation, and show a consistently positive attitude in class. First in Math State Champs First in Math State Champs: On March 30th, three members of the 1st grade enrichment math group competed in a regional qualifier for the New York State Math Championships.  Brayden Calabro, Wilson Cary and John Enders won the regional competition on that day, and were invited to compete at the University of Albany on May 20th for the state championship.  Wilson, Brayden and John won the state championship with an impressive showing of teamwork, dedication, focus and amazing number sense!! We are so proud of our little Bears! Way to go, boys!

CHS is proud to offer The Den Thrift Shoppe! CHS is proud to offer The Den Thrift Shoppe!: Chittenango High School is proud to offer The Den Thrift Shoppe. Our first anniversary is April 22nd! The Den provides FREE items to all high school students, including new and gently used clothing, shoes, outdoor wear, hygiene products, non-perishable food items, and items that can be shared with family members!   Please encourage your student to stop by and check it out. We are open Monday and Wednesday during the 10th period and by appointment.
