Bridgeport Physical Education
Last Month in PE Grades 3 and 4 worked on Fitness Testing: Half-Mile Run, Flexibility test. K-2 were evaluated on locomotor patterns and motor skills: gallop, skip, jog, grapevine, and weight bearing activities: bear crawl, lame dog, crab and crossing the midline (brain gym). We discussed areas for improvement. We also worked on units: 1.Soccer. 1.We practiced foot drills with soccer balls, and played lead up soccer games (soccer kickball, pin-kickball, and IN ACTION Soccer. We developed dribbling and passing skills as well as the rules of game.

Some of our students participated in The Special Olympics at Canastota High School. They had a great time competing in events: 50 meter dash, softball throw, standing jumpand adapted Games. Fun was had by all!

This month in PE we are working on basketball skills: dribbling, passing, shooting and playing games like: HORSE, Around The World and Knock Out.
Grades 4-5 will have tryouts for Ball Handling Team the week of Dec 1st. More to come ........
